Play-based

At Ancaster Forest & Nature School, we believe that a child at play in the outdoors is busy building skills across all developmental domains including social, emotional, cognitive, language, and physical domains. Children engaged in nature play are encouraged to solve problems through creative solutions and make decisions while learning to trust their intuition. Nature-based play, rich in stimuli, allows children to rely on their senses to make sense of the world around them, and naturally encompasses the four frames identified in the How Does Learning Happen? (2014) Ministry document; Belonging, Well-Being, Engagement, and Expression.
