Our nature-based kindergarten program offers a myriad of benefits that extend beyond traditional classroom settings. By immersing children in natural environments, our programs foster a deep connection with the outdoors, promoting physical well-being and a sense of environmental stewardship. Our nature-based kindergarten program provides a rich sensory experience, stimulating curiosity and creativity. Our outdoor settings encourage active exploration, helping develop motor skills and build resilience. Research indicates that exposure to nature has been linked to improved concentration, reduced stress, and enhanced cognitive abilities.
Our Kindergarten Program is mindfully designed for children 4 - 5 years of age. Operating with a maximum class size of 12 children, we prioritize a focused and personalized learning environment that nurtures the holistic development of each child.
At Ancaster Forest & Nature School, our kindergarten program was designed in consultation with Ontario Certified Teachers and incorporates the frames identifies within the Ministry of Education's most recent program document; The Kindergarten Program (2016). Beyond academic readiness, our nature-based kindergarten instills a love for the environment, nurturing a lifelong appreciation for the natural world.
At Ancaster Forest & Nature School, our commitment to nurturing the whole child extends seamlessly into our kindergarten program. Similarly to our other programs, these young learners actively engage in enriching activities that go beyond traditional academics. Immersed in experiences like baking, gardening and forest exploration, our kindergarten children embark on a holistic journey of discovery. These activities not only enhance their cognitive development but also foster practical life skills, social interaction, and a deep connection to nature. By incorporating these hands-on experiences, we aim to provide a well-rounded, naturally stimulating environment that nourishes every aspect of a child's growth and development.
In our French Fundamentals Program, children are invited to discover the enchanting world of the French language through music, stories, play, and, notably, immersion in nature! Under the guidance of one of our exceptional educators specializing in teaching French to young learners, children engage in weekly experiences that lay the groundwork for a lifelong love of the French language!
At Ancaster Forest & Nature School, we recognize the benefits of family-style dining extend beyond the table—it’s a holistic approach to mealtime that shapes the development of valuable life skills. All snacks and meals are vegetarian and are seamlessly included in our programs, ensuring a holistic and nourishing culinary experience for every child in our care.
